American University students visit NHEC

On January 4 2009, Fifteen American students from US University led by Katie Suplick visited to the NHEC office. U Aye Saung, vice chairperson and U Nyo Min ,Capacity Building department Director and Naing Kao Lewi of National Health and Education Committee welcomed them. The students study Burmese Democracy movement in Thailand.

American University students visit NHEC
During their visit, U Aye Saung explained briefly about Burma politics and U Nyo Min, introduced about the NHEC activities. The students asked about 'Family planning', 'Material assistance', and activities of NHEC in Internal Displaced People areas. For education, they wanted to know difference between SPDC and NHEC educational activities.
The NHEC clarified the it doesn't have 'Family planning project' directly ,but NHEC is working on 'Traditional Birth Attendance' (TBA) covering the family planning. Some students interested about 'Model Schools' which are the schools for experimenting NHEC educational policy and guidelines.
NHEC shared information and its leaflets on activities. The students in return gave a tee shirt with the symbol of their university 'US University'.
